Want to take head to Europe after your wedding, but cannot afford it? Honeymooning in Argentina may be the answer as the country has a definite European feel.

Honeymooning in Argentina

While the most popular honeymooning destinations in the world may be located in the Caribbean, there is an entire world out there waiting for you to explore it. There are many locations that are not on the typical map of honeymooning spots, but really should be. One of those places is South America. Specifically, honeymooning in Argentina can be a great choice for the couple looking for a different and special destination.

One of the first things to take note of if you decide on Argentina is the difference in seasons. In the Northern hemisphere, where Europe and the United States are located, winter is generally from December to March and summer is from June to September. This is totally different in the Southern hemisphere, where Argentina is located. In Argentina, winter (albeit mild compared to winter in the US) ranges from June to September and summer is from December to March. If you're planning a June wedding, Argentina might not be the right destination if you're looking to spend some time on the beach.

Argentineans speak Spanish and the capital of the country is Buenos Aires. This capital city is a perfect spot for honeymooning in Argentina. The older barrios (or neighborhoods) surrounding the city's center are the most popular areas for tourists. The many pedestrian malls and shopping areas are perfect for finding that special souvenir. Buenos Aires is the country's “port” city, with all major airlines and cruises entering Argentina here. The most romantic part of Buenos Aires is not what you might expect; it's the tango. The tango, the sensual dance that is a hallmark of Argentina, is both performed and taught regularly in Buenos Aires. Learning this dance can be a great accent the romance in your trip.

There are some great resorts that are perfect for your romantic retreat. One of the most romantic of these is the Alvear Palace Hotel, which bills itself as “The Buenos Aires Luxury Hotel”. This resort is featured in many publications, such as Travel and Leisure, and Conde Nast Traveler, and over 80 percent of its 200 plus rooms and suites feature a jacuzzi. Egyptian linen and other luxurious touches in the rooms, as well as specialties such as the Alvear Tea (served every afternoon), make this a romantic destination.

Honeymooning in Argentina can be rewarding and completely different from the expected island retreat. You can still experience the beautiful ocean beaches and different culture of South America, but also have a trip that's unique.
