Hi, Richard here.

I’m 39 years old and have just started learning about life… (help)…

The only thing I know…. ‘If you keep doing what you’ve always done…. you’ll keep getting what you always got….’ and that’s about it in a nutshell. Nice house, nice neighbourhood, nice family, nice job, nice kid, nice school, nice holiday, nice overdraft….. just nice. Sounds like the beginning of the movie ‘Trainspotting’. Life can be like that especially if you do ok and get by better than some.

But no health, no wealth, no education, no inspiration, no emotion, no freedom, no dreams....nothing but comfortably dying……. You know you need to make that change… Educate yourself…. Take a risk…..Take inspiration…. Take a risk…… Leave the job…. Take a risk… Borrow more money… Take a risk…. Build a business… Take a risk…..Write some goals... Take a risk.... Commit to change.... Take a risk... Make a future…. Take a risk….

If only….

My wife and I have just done exactly that.

Last year, (while employed), we travelled a bit, educated ourselves a little and invested off-plan overseas. It was a wonderful experience, the education, the cultures, the experience. If you can afford it then do it. Borrow the money, do your homework and then you will have to wait.

Perhaps your investments will do nicely, on paper they look good. You still have to wait. Now many are happy to wait but once the momentum has begun, for some there is no going back. I loved it, I learned more, went off to the Property shows, extended my circles and became more enthused. Incredibly I paid a small fortune to acquire more education, I joined a peer group, I learned even more, I started reading again, I found role models, refreshing attitude and a different way to look at life. There was no going back!

On the 1st September I left my day job, my wife followed. We are risking it all, we have some capital, a lot of debt and a few half built assets. We have a 5 year old daughter to think about. We are taking a chance because I refused to continue living the same way. We started a business, we are in the process of buying our first UK based property, we still have no income but we now have a better attitude, we enjoy better health, we spend time together as a family, we have dreams, we feel alive. Be inspired by others, find a mentor, keep educating yourself, be thankful and expect more from life……..
