Hair loss that is suffered by men is one of the most prevalent reasons for in 2006 research on male hair loss. Many scientists do research in order to help the millions of men each year that develop hair loss for several of reasons. Below is a discussion of the various 2006 research on male hair loss that is currently being developed.

2006 research on male hair loss has uncovered a number of causes for the baldness suffered by men. The first, and perhaps most prevalent reason for hair loss are genetic. Some men have an increased sensitivity to androgens, or male sex hormone in certain areas of the scalp. The hair follicles in these more sensitive areas tend to lose their hair quicker, leading to male patterned baldness.

Another cause that has been uncovered during the research on male hair loss conducted in 2006 seems to be the overall nutrition of the American male. Despite encouragement to exercise more and eat more low fat foods, many men have a diet that is over rich in fats, oils, and high calorie foods. This is great if you want something quick and tasty to eat, but studies show that it might not be the best for keeping one's hair on the scalp. These same studies show that this diet is usually deficient in certain vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin C and B-complex vitamins. Both these are shown time and time again to affect the condition of both the hair and scalp.

Of course, the cause of male hair loss isn't the only research being done in 2006. Many scientists and other researches are concentrating not on what causes the hair loss, but what can be done to stop it, or at least slow it down. Current treatments range in cost from $150.00 to a whooping $20,000 dollars for some of the more complicated hair transplant procedures. 2006 research on male hair loss is beginning to focus on more cost effective ways that the average man can afford to take part in.

However, the research is a long and slow process. So far the most effective solutions for stopping hair loss in men are still such topical solution systems that are the tried and true favorites like Rogaine or Propecia. Both these prescription based solutions contain various amounts of monoxidil, which has been shown in laboratory tests to re-grow hair.

Recent studies, although just beginning are hinting at a number of dietary changes, herbal remedies, and new procedures in hair transplantation surgeries, but for now the best bet is to stick with the tried and true favorites.
